Garden Poem by Charlotte Peters Rock

Garden

Garden

On a star bright night
in the May moon glow
with the brown of sunset
drifting all around

as the stark green scent
of the Mountain Ash
and the Whitebeam blossom
cream upon the air

under leaves unfurled
or unfurling still
I will wander tiny
watching velvet dark

where the heads hang high
on the trees above
in a pattern tracery
against the darklight

In the Lilac haze
and the Maple scent
where the Balsam Poplar
seethes around the May

where the tiny bats
in the darkest space
weave a silent magic
chasing moonlight moth

I will watch the scene
on the perfumed air
which invents a garden
floating in the sky

and I'll share it out
to increase your gaze
to reflect your mind's eye
Garden in the sky
