Ganesa-The God Of Gods Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Ganesa-The God Of Gods

I prostrate before you Oh my Lord! The Ultimate!
Kindly remove all our illusions and frustrations
You are the creator and You are the protector
Obstacles and opportunities all happen at your will

Ignorant we are with minds that never think beyond
in knowing your inexplicable powers and glory
You are the Ultimate with no one to report to
You are the Leader and You are the Supreme

Funny is your form say the ignorant with sealed senses
Forgive them for their folly with your fascinating smile
Symbol for success your captivating appearance stands for
Illusion and evolution you portray with your human body

Wisdom is the word your elephant face stands for
Cosmic bliss is your trunk that extends beyond
Fan like ears listen to every prayer from all in dire
Sharp and canny are your eyes that scan all our deeds

Sacrifice for others is your tusk that is broken
The Goad in one hand propels us forward
The Noose in the other captures the evil
Pursuit of knowledge is your flower in hand

Belt of snake stands for long lasting energy
A mouse to ride indicates modesty and simplicity
Universe is embedded in your pot like belly
Your army of Ganas stand for world’s different faiths

As are the rivers and streams through plains and hills
Converge into the mighty ocean by losing their identity
All the sects and all the faiths all the paths and all the prayers
Reach and mingle with You, the Only Ultimate, in eternal peace!

Great prayer for the Lord of all obstacles and also knowledge. I was telling my grandson that Ganesha used mouse before any of us use with the computer and he was excited. Let the world be rid of all problems by His grace.
