Would you believe- Gandhi world’s reigning brand
Ask pen is mightier than sword, house of Mont Blanc.
Proud to use his name on limited edition luxury pens.
All of 241, just for eleven lakhs something plus tax.

I couldn’t help wonder how Mahatma would react.
He gave me a broad toothless smile and said in fact
Wonder, why they want to dig me now out of oblivion.
Nothing to do with ideology, a gimmick to make millions.

By the way, tell me does anyone use pen these days.
Oh yes, I replied to sign the cheques, have to anyway.
He was quiet and turned his attention to the spinning wheel.
With bated breath, I waited for sometime sitting on my heels.

Man of a few words, I felt he was deep in meditation.
I was waiting patiently for a message to the nation.
Suddenly he waved his hand and winked at me.
Following his finger, I saw three mythical monkeys.

poor gandhi..had to be dug from the oblivion to pamper the rich..all his weapons of war... hunger strike...non cooperation are still being used in the wrong way..it is sad for humanity..that every GOOD HUMAN BEING eventually becomes a tall personality which both the political and now as you say the trade communities want to capitalize on...a lovely poem mam..you brought that great man to mind...a belated birthday wish to him...he will never die...he will be found by future generations

Just out of bed… I nose-dived into this Gandhi Brand… The title held my breath in captivity Only when fully read… re-read… I could breathe… This is a brand ode of its own. ‘Toothless smile’ – symbolic to endurance Towards deliverance in Indian History “He”… no doubt… to take it silently in his stride Mighty Pen drive – Millionaire’s greedy attempt. To follow - Mythical Monkeys – contemporary elucidation. Emblematic, dear poet, a great write, timely call Love and respect for the Father of our nation Odium… towards those corporate killers. Love you, dear poet… touched by your gesture It’s the poem of the day for me.

This poem briefly sums up the Gandhi's philosophy and how hypocritically he has been betrayed by the contemporary society and polity. Very well penned. CP

Wonderful observations about Gandhi in this very well crafted poem Mamta... It is reminiscent of the film Laage Raho Munna Bhai...10

In the last line you have conveyed Bapuji's message effectively! His 'middle path' should be followed in all spheres of life! His face stairs at us from our currency notes and unfortunately he has become only a 'brand name' for many! Thanks for sharing! 10! - Raj
