Gain And Loss Poem by Alex Lane

Gain And Loss

All too soon you try to resume
The ways that made you brave
But life goes on and so does the song
That dances you to the grave

With every murmur a reckless thought
Or maybe just a dying spark
It's final attempt trying to kickstart your heart
Before it lost it's charge

There in the blackness to which it fades
I saw nothingness
No concept
No shape
It was death at its essence
Complete absence of all things
No sleep
No seduction
Just a silence it brings
