Gaff's Crystal Chandeliers

Light up the chandeliers
For love arrived to town
To hear out eager prayers,
Blind sight with crystal crown

To dance in bedrooms dark
Make love in ballrooms bright
To burn hearts with a spark,
To pain with kiss requite

She stabs chest when we laugh
Sooths torments, every fear
Angel queen of the gaff
Devil to be held near

Her arrows never fail
- Steel in lovers' tears soaked –
Flesh tenderly impale
Leaving the soul uncloaked

poet Edgar Allan Poe

Kind solace in a dying hour!
Such, father, is not (now) my theme-
I will not madly deem that power
Of Earth may shrive me of the sin
