Futile Prayer Poem by Alex Adeoye

Futile Prayer

Let it be ever more
Joyous alone for a
life line for long-
life
Let laughter alone
for a life
sandwiched in
success
Then our daily
bread without a
stress
And applause
follows a son that
slaps his father’s
chest
Let Peace be onto
gamble house
And argument
depart thereof
Let pessimist rise
to a doubtful
enterprise
Let flash of luck
raise a dead log
Let mountain
move! Without
faith fasting and prayer
May night
takeover the day
Without an
interlude of eclipse
'Boko haram' part
bombing
Without sovereign
national
conference
Or stop breeding
with growing
army of 'almangiris'
And they embrace
peace in the face
of hunger
And looters show
all his intention on
oath
Never to side talk,
life and death in
the sharing of
Nigeria loot
Let the politician
take oath with
gods of iron
Or of thunder
before and after
his national
stewardship.
Im on it, joint me
in prayer!
I pray “o”.
