Fully Alive Poem by Kay Bressner

Fully Alive

Tired after walking so many miles,
finally resting; closing my eyes,
I still see it all so brightly

Royal blue patches of water, lighter sky,
though much of this landscape is dry

I can see grasses, the cocoplums;
a giant shade tree welcome as the sun is burning.

Yellow wildflowers,
beautiful purple iris

The lady anhinga on a high tree branch;
the British gentleman, along he ambles
to teach us about her and the cormorants.

All by himself, a redwinged blackbird
in a little green tree,
and a mockingbird singing.

The great blue heron, ducks and moorhens;
pickerelweed, spatterdock, white blossoms.

The greatest angler, the osprey
circles, hovers and dives into the water
to catch his piscine prey

his sight is amazing!
