Front Door Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Front Door

She was fast asleep
In lazy posture to keep
Her balance on the bed
I gently sent a word and said

“Hello, queen of my destiny”
I am on your window already
I knocked the front door
But feared that it may be heard by neighbor

First I gave gentle tap
Again I stopped
I thought of going through window
But mind did not allow

She might have heard in deep sleep
My heart skipped to keep
Normal beats
Fearing that she might hit

I bent down
And pulled her gown
She whispered something
I couldn’t catch anything

I withdrew steps back
Her honor was at stake
I silently withdrew
As her temperament I knew
