From This High Paddock In Belgrave South

From high paddock in Belgrave south at twilight of the day
I heard the kookaburras on gums not far away
I heard them laughing in the wood and their laughter sounded shrill
In the calm of the evening as darkness enveloped the hill.

And I thought of my old Jedder memories of her with me stay
She and I often climbed up here in a not too distant day
And though she only was a canine and a dog only a dog some well might say
I still miss her and think of her though she now rests far away

From this high paddock in South Belgrave where up to four years ago
She would dropp the stick at my feet the stick for her that I did throw
And then she'd bark and wag her tail as if to ask for a repeat
And each time I'd throw the stick she'd bring it back and dropp it at my feet

On this high paddock in Belgrave south darkness gathering all around
And the kookaburras laughter in the wood nearby resound
And I thought of my old Jedder she loved this place as much as I
And the memories of the good times will be with me till I die.
