From Rameses To Succoth Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

From Rameses To Succoth

Seventy palm trees,
Twelve wells of water;
Of a romantic night with wine at the fire place;
Bread of heaven,
Pots of meat,
Come up to me on this mountain!

From Ur to Rome,
From Rameses to Succoth,
From Accra to Hamburg,
From Nima to Lagos,
From Cape Coast to New York,
From Ghana to South Korea,
I am a stranger in a foreign land.

Fire, wine, husban and wife;
Of red wine at the fire place!
Seventy palm trees,
Twelve wells of water;
To eat for three matters to me.
Of eyes darker than wine,
Of teeth whiter than milk,
Like the strong donkey between the two saddle bags;
'Ahyah Asher Ahyah'! !
From Rameses to Succoth,
More words tor the heart;
Oh mankind, you are noted with your works.

Ten minutes to the post office,
Fifteen minutes to school;
I am in anew world learning how to speak!
To read and write,
To walk in the rain,
To sing in the rain,
To dance in the rain,
Why are the bicycles under the roof? !

To sell my mind,
To sleep for three;
To sell my views,
To eat for three;
To sell my works,
To drink for three;
Like the joy of a news to tell my parents!
But, 'Kofi likes Coffee'.

To sail the Alster and the Elbe,
To live like a King with servants,
I am stranger in a foreign land.
'Kofi likes Coffee',
To learn from my sweet muse always;
Of eyes darker than wine when,
There are more things that meet the eyes!

Oh bread of heaven,
Oh sweet of love;
Like a basket among the reeds where,
My mind do capture the events around me.
To eat for three,
To dress for three,
To drink for three,
To sleep for three,
Like a romantic night with wine at the fire place;
This is the joy that i bring to you as a stranger.
