Frodo's Goodbye (Free Style) Poem by Dorian Petersen Potter

Frodo's Goodbye (Free Style)

It breaks my heart, but in The Shire I can not longer stay!
The life that I used to know, is not longer the same, I claim,
I'm not the same! but inside me a new light seems of sudden to glow!
And to the Undying Lands at last, I've chosen to go, just the same

Here in The Shire, my old wounds never seem to mend, to heal,
Nothing can be the same! I'm falling apart and pain I just feel,
In The Shire I can't longer stay! and knowing that is breaking my heart!
Yearning! wishing! that here in Middle-Earth I could make a new start

I am feeling alone, I'm feeling lost, I'm feeling confused without you,
I've finished my task so very well, and now Valinor calls me to sea!
Leaving all these behind me, is a heartbreaking decision to make!
I'll miss the hills, The Shire! and all the friends and things I know,
Especially my devoted and best friend Sam! O I'm no longer whole

But I can not ignore these voices just calling me more!
It's time now to say my Good-Byes, blindly, I swallow my tears,
The White Swan Boat is waiting for me! and onward we go to the West, beyond the sea!
With Bilbo and Gandalf the Grey, Queen Galadriel and Lord Elron too, and all the elves!
