Friends In Need, Not Friends Indeed Poem by Agbola Oluseyi

Friends In Need, Not Friends Indeed

Back to the days of our fathers
When the sky was near the ground
That the three lovely friends dwell together
As time fly on with feathers

Behold as luck defends
The least of them takes the lead
For money comes uninvited
And under his feet he kept his friends

Then said the rest to one another
Let's send our brother-friend to early grave
To inherit all he has, they agreed
But each has contention towards the other

Gone too soon! The rich kindless man
But the wealth never enough to share
Each surviving friend decide to possess all
And gave freely to each other a poisoned can.

Then lie the three lovely friends
Cold dead beside the bags of money
And the innocent servant rose to wealth
For his masters' lives, greed ends.

Friends at first, but live with weed
For none wants the other to have
They are truely friends in need
But are never friends indeed.
