Friends And Enemies Poem by Chukwuebuka Emmanuel

Friends And Enemies

Looking far away,
I saw a crowd
Having merry and rejoicing.
They shared drinks with the same cup, Singing and dancing
With their families and friends.

At their faces,
You will see joy and happiness
Speaking of a better living.
And then a sudden shout.
People run helter shelter.
Their tables kicked.

Looking up they see no light.
They liked in darkness
Where they face pain and suffering.
They have their back whipped
By their enemies.
They prayed to their gods everyday
For help.
Their joy and happiness
Which they hoped could have lasted
Have turned out to become
Pain and suffering.
