Friends Poem by RIC BASTASA

Friends

my brown dog
under my legs

a blue bird
a hand away

a water fountain
a blue bird drinking

my hand on the brown dog
my legs and hands reaching

my mouth drinking water
the water fountain

doing some other things
besides hearing the world

the people in front of you
they are not your friends

there is this bar
that is that bench

words keep talking
ears shut

got to play with words
multi-tasking and evasive

believe me not
i do what is to be done now.
