Freedom's Question Poem by Andy Caldwell

Freedom's Question

it's a free country
what does that mean
I don't want to question
those who died
for freedom's protection
But are we free to shout fire
in the crowd of a theater
the answer is no
our Supreme Court said so
Are we free to speak
our political views
no matter how weak
or ill conceived
are we free to believe
in the God we perceive
are we free to search
for ultimate truth
but political correctness
how does it fit in
with our freedom to think
as our souls minds and life
take us
Are we free to believe
what we believe as correct
no matter how stupid it is
Will peer pressure contain us
