Freedom Just An Idea Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Freedom Just An Idea

Rating: 5.0

Be the master of your own destiny
Whom are they kidding?
Conform I hear them say
Believe this or that
Watched over by the state
Everything tagged in someway

Cameras watching every move in the street
Pictures taken every time withdrawals made
Photo licences for all
Bank details, vehicle documents, everything
All fed into a computer
Into something that’s safety is so dubious

Being brainwashed
Hung out to dry in full view
Needing licences for marriage
Next, we will need one to die

Have a passport, if we say you can
First, you have to conform
You may say that we are free
Free, where are we free?

Everything has a price
Our price is our freedom
Thinkers beware
Somewhere down the line you will pay
Pay for the thoughts up to now free

I wonder what will happen, if they will charge us, to breathe?
Will it be by lung capacity?
Maybe by the purity of what we breathe

When I say they, whom do I mean
Not just one man
Not even ten thousand men
Men and women who are in the system
Cogs of the uncontrollable
Applying strict rules, no corner cutting
Adhered to right down to the last letter

Freedom is an idea
Not a fact
Just a thought
That has to conform

No we are not free but what has the freedom we have gotten us lately. A financial crisis. I was in the army as a young man and sometimes I miss the security of it. Of course we could always find some freedom by sneaking around and smoking pot and stuff. Fine poem though.

The only true freedom Gordon is inside your own thoughts...shouldn't be that way but it is...even in your own country where pride is taken in freedom of speech you can't speak your mind even though others can legally...sorry mini rant over..steps down off soap box.....excellent write: 0)) ...10+++
