Freedom Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Freedom

“You’re free”
They tell you “But don’t see”

They want you as a hen laying eggs
Then away off you go and omelet
Is for them

They want you be chicken in the barn
You’re free but to eat, grow old
Sometimes shit; and be killed
In a plate on table

They want you; you’re camel, or mule
Carry loads in deserts or rough hill
You’re in rein; tied in caravan
Tied to post or door knob

“You’re free, ” they say and sure you are
Only if you’re dumb, deaf and blind
Your smile superficial; ‘Superstar
Be fashioned to rise high’

“Bad people, ” they claim (believe them?)
“Are detained in Evin, in Bagram,
Hidden in Abu Ghoraib, Cuba”

“Trust us, do not doubt, we are the civilized.”
They speak on the screen in wires of sky
Look at books; as the farm of Orwell
I am lost what is this ‘All Equal’?

The mirror of my heart is shattered; is pieces
In a lab, microscope detected super-string
In space Hubble found ‘Black Hole’

Our comfort is a shame
CIC is aware and UN.
