Free My Mind Poem by Mark Dillon

Free My Mind

Rating: 5.0

As I walk here on the beach,
all trials and woes out of reach.
I look out at the deep blue sea
in a bid to rediscover me.

Its gentle calmness soothes my mind,
its gentle waves, the blowing wind.
So far away now my thoughts they fade,
as through cool waters I slowly wade.

When even in tempest, the waves they crash.
When the wind is so fierce that you need a sash.
I still get great solace from its majesty.
This wild and beautyful raging sea.

I just love to come here,
no seasons I mind.
And leave all my troubles and cares behind.
The sea it will cleanse me and refresh me anew.
So that I will come back here with a confidence new.

But now I must leave my haven by the sea.
There are people and places beckoning me
away from your solitude and lovely white shores.
A fast boat takes me.Responsibility its great oars.
Oh, but I will return to be by your side,
and watch the glow of the evening sun
sink below your ebbing tide.
