Free Graze *

Cowboy lonely is the trail on
so little sleep pushing
mindless bovine through
rivers chalky plains water
floating in the sky
quenching ones thirst
on the blood of
rattlesnakes feeding cactus
pulp to youngest of calves
marching forever forward
to reach some town forever
away towe is my head from
the sun warping my eyes
false is some distant lake
taken so many lives
will not die.
