Fourth Of July Poem by Jamie Alexander

Fourth Of July

Rating: 5.0

Forever we will celebrate, with grateful heart we say
Old Glory, we salute you on this patriotic day
United we stand beside you, our faithful loyal friend
Refusing to accept defeat, devoted till the end
Treasuring each and every stripe, protecting every star
Honoring all you mean to us, the beacon that you are

Our demand for independence refused to be denied
Freedom broke the chains, dried the tears we cried

Jesus may your mercy keep our country safe and sound
Under Thy provision, abundance will abound
Lord, our heartfelt gratitude flows from shore to shore
You granted us our freedom, U.S.A. forevermore

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this Acrostic poem last July but in light of recent events, I am reminded how blessed I am to be an American. We have our share of problems but there's no place I'd rather be.
