Forty Plus Years Poem by Eric Cockrell

Forty Plus Years

Rating: 3.3

forty plus years
of working day
and night...
and all i have
to show for it is...

the dust in my pockets,
holes in my jeans,
and a stack of bills
i cant pay...

no insurance,
no retirement,
no house on the hill....

just another victim
of the American Dream!

The American dream has been an illusion for umpteen years now. I'm still trying to sort it all out but it's really difficult.

We all victims of this. It is the darkness of no dreams. Or lost dreams which one you prefer. Basically what I mean is the same thing. Another Great Poem By A Great American Poet.
