Fortress Poem by Ariadne Lenaly

Fortress

None shall pass the iron gate
That stands between the love and hate
I will trap you here forever
Where no one can hear you scream for help
Travel on torturous and winding steep roads
And live like an animal among all the toads
But these roads will never guide your path
Only bring you closer to my wrath
And so, my “friends, ” here is what I say
Listen and you will not pay
It does not matter how straight the gait
How charged with punishment the scroll
I am the master of your fate
I am the captain of your soul
