Forgiveness Is Key Poem by Nikiesha Richards

Forgiveness Is Key

She was a lonely single mother
Who shared an apartment with her brother
After her son’s father, she swore she’d never love another
But the signs are there that she’s seeing a secret lover

Each morning she wakes up with a smile so bright
As she was reminiscing over what took place last night
Her son walked in rubbing his chest and blowing his nose
And she stood there just simply admiring this pretty red rose

Some time passed by what was hidden now began to show
She tried to keep it a secret but still I know
I questioned her about the father of the child she carried
But from her actions, I can tell that this man was married

A knock on the door, it was a woman I never knew
She said “don’t take me for a fool, I know about you two”
You knew he was married, but you just didn’t care
Now everybody would know about your little affair

God saw what you were doing, and he brought it out
So there was no room for denial any confusion or any doubt
My sister held down her head, and tearful eyes of shame
Because she acted selfishly, and cause another woman pain

On her knees rubbing her belly as the baby moved inside her
My heart skipped a beat as the woman knelt beside her
She held her and said I have forgiven you, you made a mistake
But next time use better judgment with the choices you make

Then she prayed for her and invited her to church on Sunday
My sister gave her life to the Lord on that day
I knew that the sermon that lady preached touched her heart
Now she has a new beginning, a brand new start
