Forgiveness Poem by Leaking Pen

Forgiveness

Rating: 5.0

What do I know about forgiveness?
Which humanity's feast must I attend?
Yum Kippur or Christmas
Hearts bend apart will never mend.

My failing grade is the letter 'F'
Frames the nuances of my heart.
Forgiveness in my conscience is it dead?
Sadly do I cast the first stone from the start?

To judge a book by its cover as such
Blinds the eye, deafness the ear and weighs the foot.
Blame me for I am as guilty as much
I purposely wander down the street to uproot.

Why can't I see the speck in my own eyes?
I heard a holly voice once when growing up.
To free my broken heart from its demise
Forgiveness I must drink from its cup.

And consciously turn the other cheek
But how can a bad habit leave my face?
When from the smell of evil I reek
And I hide from the light and its trace.

It seems I follow current trends
Like fallen leaves blowing in the wind.
Decay destitute their ends
And to victory by death they're pinned.

A mathematician constructs formulas
A chemist dabbles in alchemy
I purposely reverse parabolas
Tricking the axis of my poetry.

My case has been debated: "It's fear"
The jury announced their verdict.
I have no more defence left to clear
My self-serving justice, I did commit.

My mother cried when she heard my lines,
How could a birthed love go so wrong?
She sobbed and prayed for signs,
And asked forgiveness hands to hold me strong.

Now that my end is near
Or is the end of my insanity.
Forgiveness my Mom's last tear
Rebuilds my heart's circuitry.

My renewed heart awakened by spring,
I forgave winters misunderstood cold.
For I misjudged its far-reaching sling,
Not knowing life resting beneath its fold.

I am guided back to the light and its hold,
Forgiveness forgave my grudges.
I forgave myself and recast a new mould,
Freeing my perceived hostages.

I see my fate turning around
And forgiveness finds its way back to me.
Its atonement purifies my ground
And make ready to plant the new me.
