Forgive Me Poem by Oge Nwankwo

Forgive Me

I forgive you
I forgive you for your disguise
And seemingly enacting the emblem of bliss
I forgive you
Even for the hurts you don't know I forgive you
For stealing my heart so early along
I forgive you
And even when I couldn't name who you were
I forgive you
For the tears I couldn't understand
I forgive you
And the foot right in my chest I forgive you
For the times I yearned for you
And all the ways you let me thirst
I forgive you
For the times I could not recognise
My pleading reflection
I forgive you
All those days without knowing me
I forgive you
For taking over my very soul
I forgive you
I even forgive for the hate that you've caused
I forgive you...
Love, I forgive you

You can be so unforgiving sometimes
Always intent on making a point
And I never seem to have a choice but to listen
To the lesson Love has to offer my heart
So in all this, Love, you must forgive me
Forgive me for I remain relentless
Unwavered by your temper-tantrums
Though my chest will pound like the beat of a drum
Forgive me Love if I do not run
