Forever Calm Poem by Jennifer Sollmann

Forever Calm

Slipping under a guise again
Being buried in the lies
Forged emotions lead the way
Crumbling of the truth
I’ll never escape
It’s simply too much
You’re too obsessed
I can’t break that trust
Hidden discomfort
Silence in my laughter
You hide from it
But you really see
It’s not only me
Fallen from the high
Residing on earth again
Pulling away
Can’t stand the touch
Like a burning fire
Don’t cross that line
I warned you
I lash out in ways
You never see
Opaque is my lie
Made dark by your desire
Wipe the mud from your face
It’s not real, it never was
Fascination in the chase
Excitement of her face
Crushed and burdened
You turned to me
I love the quandaries
Irresistibly drawn
Alone I feel it too
Breaking the law
You’re ignoring the signs
Hit the brakes
Before you go too far
Stop before you crash
Exploding sorrow
Wish it didn’t work that way
That smile breaks my heart
Annoyance in the reminder
Of what I once had
Sudden realization
Hatred flows
Aimed towards me
Inciting a forever calm
