Forest, My Home Poem by Zaria Fallenrise

Forest, My Home

I never thought how beautiful and majestic you are,
Everything so lush and so green, so sparkling when the sun shines just the right spot,
So peaceful without any human activities disturbing us.
The cheerful animals are playing on the ground and branches,
The joyous birds are singing in the treetops and when they fly,
Even the seasons change ever so slowly
This is the perfect bliss
Oh Forest, My Home.

Why not bring the moonlight a little to the left, not too close to make the moles blink,
But to help nightingale sing.
I don’t know why I feel so calm and quiet but this delight comes once in a lifetime
And im glad im here up in my strong tree to remember How I came here to just be.

Every day is bright and brings new wonders. The meadows of blooming beautiful blossoms,
When the hummingbirds and bees come buzzing and humming around,
Mmmmm the taste of the sweet flowery treats and especially the gooey honey.
When I fish for my dinner I eat only two or three considerably (I don’t want to break my diet)
I respect oh Mother of My Home.
I don’t cut down trees for I only burn the dead of their bones
The fires to keep me warm and dance with me.

At night I sleep under the shimmering stars, during the day, I hunt and play,
Why don’t all humans be like this?
Be a child with wonders, hopes, and dreams again?
This is why I came here to live happily
To remember my humanity
And I’m glad I’d stayed
Oh Forest, My Home
