For Too Long Poem by Francis Duggan

For Too Long

For too long we have abused Nature we must fight to save every tree
And we must stop polluting the rivers for by doing so we too pollute the sea
Suburbia is rife with pollution factory chimneys puff smoke to the sky
That polllution give rise to diseases the medical experts do never deny.

Due to habitat destruction and over-hunting many creatures in danger of extinction and many on the endangered list
And the challenge of hunting down and killing protected species some poachers just cannot resist
Nature without human kind would do nicely but without Nature we could not exist
Harming Nature for us is self destructive and on our own destruction why do we insist?

The beauty and wonders of Nature should be for us all to enjoy
And wealthy developers the enemies of Nature her beauty they only destroy
Some animal or bird has to suffer for every tree that that we cut down
And far too many trees have been removed for to build more factories in the Town.

For too long we have abused Nature the very hand that feeds us we bite
That we try to harm our Earth Mother who feeds us it doesn't seem clever or right
Each time we abuse our Earth Mother we are abusing our best ever friend
But she will be living forever and our lives will come to an end.
