For The Spirit Of Our Children Poem by G J Salgado

For The Spirit Of Our Children

Rating: 5.0

I sat in the wilderness talking to your ghost
This was the time of all moments that I needed you the most
Killing my own demons before they're unleashed unto the world
The moon has never felt so far away, not since I was a little girl
Such a beautiful soul with a powerful mind
I shall rise up and lead my native soldiers against this war
Courage from our ancestors and future generations we'll find
A fight within all battles without tears, bloodshed, or gore
We will not be ignorant or angry with our words
Stand tall with courage and humanity
With love of our people, the animals and mother earth
Finding a better way of life without the forces of insanity
I give my love and sacred offerings unto the world
When I look at my children, I'll know that I tried
I look into the innocence of the face of who I was as a little girl
Then I'll know that my legacies will continue on, long after I have died...
