For The Purpose To Protect Themselves Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

For The Purpose To Protect Themselves

Time spent in hunting down threats,
And depictions of the ever changing fashion choices...
Enemies have been making on a daily basis,
Has not curtailed or diminished one bit...
The rise of crime everyone can find of all kinds,
Where people claim a freedom exists.

But rumors heard and permitted to spread,
Has begun an increase releasing done of fear.
And the thought of it alone condones,
More purchasing of legalized guns that are sold...
And everyone wishes it known they own,
For the purpose to protect themselves...
From suspicious neighbors they have been told through gossip,
Have been witnessed visiting others disliked during week nights.
And living on blocks within their manicured subdivisions.

Time spent in hunting down threats,
And depictions of the ever changing fashion choices...
Enemies have been making on a daily basis,
Has not curtailed or diminished one bit...
The rise of crime everyone can find of all kinds,
Where people claim a freedom exists.
