For The First Time Not Poem by zama ashley helebe

For The First Time Not

For the first time
I was part of authorities
Being an ear at them
Debating about my sisters
Death maker

For the first time
We sit on the wooden
Chairs of the court

For the first time
We pleasure the environment
Of the law

But…
Not for the first time
I heard the price
Of a human being soul

Not for the first time
I saw a bartering system
Of a humans soul with cash

Not for the first time
The house of law
Is being paid for the
Murdering of a human being

Not for the first time
A murder is more innocent
Than a thief
“Strange isn’t it?
