For Robin Williams, Whose Creative Mind I Admired Poem by Michelle Claus

For Robin Williams, Whose Creative Mind I Admired

A diamond slipped out of its mounting today.
A diamond surrendered and quit its ring.
It washed away through a drain
and traveled elsewhere.

Mother falls to her knees
deep within her quiet grave
and cradles her long lost son.
Serenity is begun.

When the circle falters
neither gold nor silver
nor platinum
can contain a diamond-star.

We sky-gaze from afar
and pretend to understand.
