For I Am Your Friend Poem by bluebabe 8786

For I Am Your Friend

When you are with me
You could feel as prisoner…
Feels who has been declared innocent,
For you do not have to be on your guard…

I understand those contradictions in your nature
That led others to misjudge you…
You can avoid your little vanities
For I am your friend…

I am like fire, water, and wine…
Fire that purges all you do,
Water that cleans all that you say,
And wine that warms you to the bone…

I am your friend—in need and in deed…
The one with whom you dare to be yourself…
You can neglect, abuse, and tolerate me;
Best of all, you can keep still with me…
