For Everyone Alike

...To those under siege please listen...

They brand us with names; dark, evil, antisocial,
Depressed, pessimistic, insensitive, cold,
Freaks, emotionless, distant...

...You still there? ...

If you feel overwhelmed.
Or just merely alone.
Know that you are not alone.
We are here...

...We're here for you...

We may not appear positive,
Happy, friendly, loving.
But know this... to truly understand us...
Try these... listening, being respectful...

...You all do not understand...

And you do not try...
This is us.
do not try to change us.
This is what we are...

...Only a few really understand...

We accept the darkness.
We dwell within and embrace it.
This is what we are...

...If you truly understood you will care...

Poem of the Day

poet Edmund Spenser

My love is like to ice, and I to fire:
How comes it then that this her cold so great
Is not dissolved through my so hot desire,
But harder grows the more I her entreat?
