For Ann-Marie Poem by Geofff Payne

For Ann-Marie

Rating: 5.0

Down in the woods so green a deer hides from being seen

For hunters come from all around to shot them down to the ground

The Hunter he moves close

He shoots……

The animals scatter at the crash and the deer makes he dash

But as she jumps the wild shot hits he

She falls never to move again……

When the hunters go away

The animals come back and pray

For they killed her just for fun and left her to die in the sun,

Now she has a better prize,

To jump and leap in the skies…..

Where no man can mark her again.

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Your poem exposes the sadness of life, the cruelty of some. A bit of hope though at the end. I'm glad I read it.
