Footprints On The Moon Poem by Alfred Ramos

Footprints On The Moon

It was an Indian summer night
An aromatic breath it did invite
A warm and satin breeze
Blew over the sentinel trees
It brushed my hair to the right
Romantic thoughts set in flight
A snow white sphere appeared
As if from Cupid it had been speared
Smudges were detected
From the light that it reflected
It gently pushed the clouds aside
It went into a glistening glide
Ready to take off for a ride
Truth be told I almost cried
It blanketed the hillside with a golden sheen
The autumn leaves skittered the roadside clean
It had awakened from a troubled sleep
Like it had an appointment to keep
It was like it was imitating the sun
In its Sunday best it would make its run
Now we all live for what is just
So before that day we turn to dust
Mixing our dreams with reality is a must
We savor this moment with lust
With the help of stars sprinkled in the sky
A lovers’ lament will see not a dry eye
But produce the most profound sigh
Something in my eye will be my alibi
As the man in the moon says goodbye
