Flying Fighters Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Flying Fighters

Across the plains of Germany
Across the battle zone,
Across the towns and houses
Those flying fighters droned.
The year was nineteen forty-five
Destruction was absurd!
All Dresden stopped to count the cost
As reams of innocent lives were lost
Oh the anguish and the upset
Dresden will never ever forget.
