Fly With Me Poem by Colleen Courtney

Fly With Me

Rating: 5.0

Faces age, Bodies soften, Hearts break
I wish to be loved for my mind and my soul
For this is the very true essence of my beauty
If you will honestly love me for who I am
Then I shall kindly love you the same in return
And together we will fly to unimaginable levels
Of ecstasy.

Are you familiar, Colleen, with Garrison Keillor and his NPR show THE PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION? His sign off phrase goes BE WELL, DO GOOD WORK, AND STAY IN TOUCH. I have failed on that last count. So when I saw this recent poem I decided to correct the error of my ways. The opening line is very honest, and in our youth oriented culture very provocative. You're telling the truth about human experience, but with the wisdom of a poet you don't leave without a vision and that vision is the next six lines of a seven line poem. That's the proper balance for a poem with the vision of a love flight, a loving flight, a flight with love - there are so many dimensions to this vision you give us!

The honest love educates and empowers from inside. Love guides in tender and right path. Together you can fly to unimaginable levels of ecstasy. An excellent poem is brilliantly penned....10

There is no greater gift than being loved for who we are. A beautiful reminder for us all.
