With tears like drops of arctic ice
And prayers and songs of old
With love within each trembling voice
We walk into the cold

When mother earth consumes you
And grass covers your mound
In our hearts we will keep you
Not buried in the ground

In years to come your essence
Will float all through the sky
And we will never cease to shed
The tears that helped you fly

For as we gather lonely
Around your namesake tree
Our tears soak through the earth
Touch you and set you free

For each and every sorrow
Or joy that reaches you
You’ll live in our emotions
And feeds that heart so true

Our tears that freeze upon your back
On this frosty day
Flow into gossamer wings
And help you fly away

But you will never fly too far
For your soul is right here
You will never leave our hearts
For your place is right here

So wherever we travel
From home or far abroad
In our hearts we’ll keep you
Your love we do applaud.
