Flower Of Blood Poem by Soubhagyabanta Maharana

Flower Of Blood

FLOWER OF BLOOD

SOUBHAGYABANTA MAHARANA

Ask the flower of blood
And it will unravel the truth
Lying behind the screen:
How before blooming into flower
Its foetus was removed brutally.

The sculpture of blood
Was obliterated in the dust.
The soft petals of flower of blood
Were crushed by the cruel feet
Of inhuman souls in the nursing home
To measure the mark of cruelty.

The flower of blood
Once vowed in the wombs
To see lovely dreams
By spreading sweet aroma
In the gentle wind.

Sometimes the nursing home
Turns into a butcher-house
Or sometimes in the solitary chamber
Of the lonely hospital
Someone lies in wait
Carrying the black arrest warrant of death.

To analyse the marked difference
Between life and death
The foetus being oblivious of its mother
Lies in the deepest slumber
Near a desolate bush
Or solitary sands of the river-bed.
