Flightless Poem by Khumo Mhlanga

Flightless

Moth...flame
Passion, lust, fire...
Devoured
Old as time attraction
Still dangerous
Still can't handle your kind of love - less prepared than I thought
Moth to flame
Consume me...please
Make me forget - shut my eyes

All-encompassing
Bewitching...
You in me - mesmerizing

But I'm back now
None of it was real
Can this love heal me?

But you're not there yet...
Until we dance again & you singe my wings
I'm flightless - basking in the afterglow of consumption
