Flight Disruption Poem by Timothy Branch

Flight Disruption

I should be free to fly.
I can't be held by what you see.
You didn't see me when cover covered me.
I could not be seen when I was wound and bound.
But when my change came, I caught your eye.
I did fly the skies all my pleasure to delight all who witnessed.
Not every witness received my aerial dance with gladness.
One with an contemptuous eye devised a change of plans for me.
Their heart was set to catch me to my chagrin.
To be what I am to be, I must be free.
No one stage of coming into my own could withhold my destiny from me.
Why did one seek to harness or ground me?
Can't you see that people are looking for me to blissfully surf weightlessness?
Again, there are people looking for me?
Your plan prevails as my wings fold.
No more flights of delight can I fly anymore.
Why contain unrestrained beauty destined to fly?
Abstain from hindering those predestined to fly.
