Flicker Of The Candle Poem by Lynne Howard

Flicker Of The Candle

Flicker of the candle long ago
When he first caught my eye
One look across the smoky room
The attraction so hard to defy

Our spark turned into friendship
An earning of the trust
Lost in love's illusion
Before my world turned into dust

Time together passed too quickly
Our destiny not to be
For he was promised to another
And that's my tragedy

Flicker of the candle of first love
Extinguishing of the flame
Quiet reflections of yesteryear
Tradition was to blame
