Flexible About Meetings Poem by Donal Mahoney

Flexible About Meetings

I used to be flexible
about meetings at work.
Change the hour
of a meeting,
no problem for me.
I'm at the table
at the new time,
iPad open and ready.
Then my boss changed
the hour of a meeting
and I showed up
at the original hour.
He wasn't there so
I sent him an email
saying he was fired.
He didn't reply
but sent a janitor
and two security guards
to carry my boxes
out to the parking lot.
Now I'm looking for work
where people don't
reschedule meetings.
Imagine the meetings
never rescheduled
the afternoon of 9/11.
Once is enough,
I told my boss back then.
I told him never let
anything like this
happen again.
