Flattered Lives Poem by Somanathan Iyer

Flattered by all then ego is satisfied
exempted is no one including the great God
lest how come found are so many hymns and prayers
praising the Lord hailing his powers
Played this trick tactfully we the humans since long
in this process occurred a wish
in the minds of humans to get flattered
routine to find now lavish praises
heaped on powerful though not warranted
in and out many a tongues and many a writes
indulge in flatters mortgaging own honour
