Flatlands Poem by Adryan Barnathan

Flatlands

Rating: 5.0

My mind is a steam roller, rolling away
letting those thoughts, crush my brain

All of this weight, I put on myself
No beer or weed is ever going to help

Escape is, what thin layer is left on these flats
Kaleidoscopic and then, 'Never Never Land' sets in

Self punishment is where I live

Cry for your daddy, tho he is no more
and all the others who perish in my stride
all let me know, that I'm still alive

Running a circle of motion, where blood meets the road
in a crust of emotion, and woeful devotion

'Amen, to the goners that are gone
and the fun that meets the road that goes onto wasting time
because, that is what we do before we die.
