Flame Of Inspiration Poem by John A. Hancock

Flame Of Inspiration

Rating: 5.0

I stare into a candle's flame
A hundred memories flicker there
Only to drift away upon a puff of smoke
Like clouds floating thru the air
A tiny flame slowly burns
Sentinel of the night
Casting light upon my thoughts, as my
Heart brings words of love to life
Wax dripping scented tears
Silently do they flow, as a single
Flame struggles to spread its warmth
Whilst outside the winter wind it blows
Shadows waltz across the walls
Dancing figures that move with ease
Oh faithful candle I call thee friend
For all the times your mystic flame inspired me
And when sleep comes to take me
To the world of a poet's dreams
I kiss thee good night with a single breath
As a blanket of darkness covers me
