Fishing For Compliments Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Fishing For Compliments

There is a certain amount of vanity in each of us
We try to look our best and preform to peak perfection
When efforts are unnoticed…there is disappointment
If overlooked there is an unwarranted feeling of rejection

How do I look…what do you think…are questions asked
with a favorable responses expected to make us glow
If the beckoned words of praise do not sound gracious
it is referred to a constructive criticism…to help us grow

So remember when fishing for flattery there is a chance
that praise will not be what you hear….kudos may be
sink to the bottom of the sea…when a barracuda surfaces
It is clear... an ego floats only if comments are complimentary
