First Day Of Summer Arrived Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

First Day Of Summer Arrived

We borrowed this day
From the chores that needed
To be done
And ran away in celebration
Of the first day of summer
Which arrived with thunder roaring
And forceful rain...ah, but we
Were side by side thankful for the
Blessing of another day
Exchanging serenades, sharing laughter
And the impassioned bounty of our
Being together.
