First Day Of School Poem by Sam Heilenbach

First Day Of School

Cheery kids everywhere
With one kid screaming in the corner
I cling to my mom's leg
Like a suction cup.
I cry while all the other kids
File into school.
The principal meets me at the door
As a squeeze my mom even tighter
She approaches slowly and
Tells me I have nothing to be afraid of
But fear engulfs me.
My mom follows closely
While I get escorted around the school.
The day comes to an end
And I enter my first class,
And my schooling begins.
